My garden of dead or dying things

Here are some dead or dying things previously growing in my garden. This drought is awful. I didn't cut or crop any of them because I am busy and I really don't put that much effort into the pictures. (Actually, the hollyhocks and that yellow flower are doing remarkably well). The small purple flower is another Malva, and of course Rose of Sharon. Those odd things growing up from the ground with pink bases and a green pucci-ish pattern is not a rare plant, that is my lower half.
