A friend described the movement of leaves across the pavement as "tree tarantulas" (Kyle).   I love it, we have a few left, the odd clinger on a tree, and a few scuttling across the road.

It was cold last night, I broke out the Uber-boots for the first time, and we walked the dogs, through the wind and the blustery chill of what is now in my mind, deemed Winter.  Autumn is fleeting.  Autumn is a nice word for the transition of colours from green to ochre, beyond that, it's Winter.  I don't care what the calendar dictates, if it's cold and past Hallowe'en, it's Winter.

There were snow pebbles this morning, and my coniferous arrangements were in disarray.  Something happened two nights ago, and all of a sudden I was ripping branches off trees and bushes in the middle of a rain event, in the dark.  I still need to grab some red winter berries, I may go into the woods for those, the only hesitation, is poison ivy.  Regardless of what season, in my mind, it is still dangerous.

Next week is supposed to "warm up" and a friend and I will be taking Antonio to the big city.  I have a few small gifts to pick up, and my shopping is done.  This will be an easy Christmas, and a calm one, now, New Years, we shall see. ;)

I may go out Sunday with another friend but it all depends on what the kids are up to and Addled.  The kids want to see the new puppy.  Which means, I either have to kennel the two dogs and bring one, or bring them all.  I may just bring them all.

Wow, even being down for a while, almost 40,000 hits.  Pretty neato burrito.

The Grill

The grill.  No, I didn't get a new facade for my teeth, but bought the grill for grilled cheese day for Tibbles.  They wouldn't allow the extra large grilled cheese sandwich maker, they wanted a flat grill.

This morning was raining, and the kids needed a ride anyhow, so off we went, grill in hand. Bangs couldn't frizz in the rain. Tibbles won't share her (my) umbrella with Gibbles, and Gibbles does not want to be seen with an umbrella.  She doesn't want to be seen as someone who is affected by weather systems in general. This year, she refuses to wear the winter jacket I bought her, and stay with the same pea coat, which offers no R value.

The grill took up half the back seat of the truck in the box.  There was no way she could take it on the bus, with the danger of small children getting hit, and falling on the floor, emergency stops, it just was not going to happen.  I could just see little ones flailing, someone getting smacked in the face, injuries of various intensity. Now, if the box is removed it is much more travel worthy.

So off we went.  Antonio, the truck puking along because it was damp out, I had to pull over on the soft shoulder twice.  Then realized as I got to the school, I had to park in the high school parking lot, because, as Tibbles reminded me, we are not supposed to park in a "bus loading zone".  I've seen many park in the "loading zone", and we had a "load".  Tibbles is a rule theorist.

Then a tiff ensued after dropping Gibbles off at her high school.  Tibbles' back pack was loaded down with so many books and snacks and the fact that she can only wear her back pack on one shoulder, that I deemed it necessary to drag the grill in myself.  She didn't want me to, maybe the stage of being embarrassed of having a mother has kicked in.  I did my mustache, so, a hairy face wasn't the issue.  In the parking lot, she didn't want me to even touch the monolithic box, it was straight out of 2001 A Space Odyssey:

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVMPlIQAz5E .

I had to twist it out of her hands and march it in to the school.

Turned out, it could have been dropped off another day, because today was not grilled cheese day.  It would have been better to sneak it there during school hours.  Such drama. ;)

Stockwell Day Pose For Post Below

Shhhh

I miss the stove, back to the Tempwood, mostly, it's the glow of the flames that I miss and the ambiance.  So, I will be keeping an eye open for a larger glass fronted stove.  Although for this winter, until I know what is going on, I have to use a top loader.  I couldn't bend to put the logs in the other stove.

A friend and I were in Crappy Tire yesterday, and in the Housewares section, she decided to strike a pose.  I said "why are you posing like Addled?"  She wasn't posing, she was stretching.  It looked so funny that I collapsed right by the grills, then she followed suit.  Right in the Housewares section, her leg was lifted like that guy from the Conservatives that everyone made fun of, who staged wood chopping in every campaign ad.  I will think of his name later, right now it eludes me, it is on the tip of my tongue. STOCKWELL DAY!!! If the video works, you can see the hot flames of conservatism and his stance.  I just wish I could have found the wood chopping moments.

For fundraising, as I was in collapse and cry mode, I looked up and there was a grill that Tibbles had wanted for Grilled Cheese Day.  It was the last day of the sale, and I swear the box had a gold glow around it. . . just for Tibbles.

So, I bought it.  When the kids got home yesterday, I forgot that it was Tibble's Day of Silence for a developing nation, and monologued about the grill.  "WHY ARE YOU BEING SURLY?" I asked.  She signed out that it was the Day of Silence.  She wears tape on her mouth at school again today.  I wish she would do at least one country per week.  It was a relaxing evening ;)

My fingers are killing me, now, I have small little paper cuts all over the tops of them, then I got chimney cement in the little abrasions, and I can't get it out.  So this is all they typing for today.  It's a day of being pooped, another friend is kaput as well.  I wonder if it is the weather, the low pressure system? Hmmm.

Moving

Not physically, yet. I am slowly moving stuff over to the new blog.  This blog will remain, but it's a slow process because  certain posts that have to be reformatted.  Those on my mail list, I will let you know.  STAY WHERE YOUR HANDS ARE, I have lost you again, and email me, because I have lost your addy.

Well, must get ready to blow this pop-stand, a friend is "festive" and wants to do some chin wagging ;)

Stuff

Now I am trying to decide if I should stick with the Regency stove or just re-install the Tempwood.  I seriously like them both.  The Regency shows the flames, it's EPA certified, and it fits nice into the alcove which is all non combustible material.  The Tempwood, is easy to use, no need for cleaning the glass, and it is very kid and dog friendly.  I can stuff almost any size of log into that baby and not worry.  Although the temperature fluctuates.  I do like that the Tempwood is a top loader, so it will be easier for me this Winter, when I have that "thing".

There has been one man who keeps saying he is coming, I turn the stove off, and then he doesn't show up, this is his last chance for the stove.  There have been a few others interested, and I am awaiting responses.  I did manage to get pictures of the back, which shows clearances, and the graphs of burning vs smoke.  Meanwhile, I almost pulled a Van Gogh, because of the Eco-Fan's blades. Next time, I will remember to move it.

My other option is, is to actually install it in one of the rentals.  It is approved for mobile home use, or it could be put into the house.

I still have a few hollyhocks in the garden, a bright coral, one of the original colours that begged me to buy the house.  It was all about the hollyhocks.  When we first saw the house there were actually double flowers.  The black hollyhocks that I planted shriveled and were taken over by a type of late blooming yellow faced tall swooning flower.

I planted gigantic emperor anemone for next year, my mom split a few off her large mother plant.  I am actually anticipating next fall, because, the flowers seem to move independent of each other, when washed with the wind.  It is such an odd ball flower, beautifully creepy, creepy, because of independent movement.

I am already starting seeds for Rose of Sharron bushes.  My spider plants are procreating, and babies are being rooted.

More hours next month at the casual part time artist co-op.  I can't wait.  I was also given a contact number to someone who knows much on the history of my house.  I made the call, and the lady was sick, but her husband did tell me some interesting tidbits.  I knew that the other house was the original Summer kitchen.

I did a major house cleansing yesterday, so intense in fact, that when the Gibbles and Tibbles came home from school, they noticed an immediate lightness.  I didn't tell Addled, and he to wondered about the feeling.  I caved and told them.  It's clear.  The damp blanket has been lifted.

In the next few weeks, there is much to do. The list keeps growing, but it is all very positive, things seem to be falling into place with lightning speed.

I went to my first "She She" party, purses, jewelry with a friend the other day.  It was a little disappointing.  There is one purse that my DD likes and if I find it elsewhere, or something similar, it will be a nice Christmas gift for her trip.  Lucky girl is headed to the Big Apple.  It was a trip that had to be taken, because the teacher who has organized is the best History teacher in the world, and the itinerary, makes me drool with envy.

I noticed since I left this blog, that I hadn't been uploading pictures or videos.  Must do that. My USB cable is missing, which is terribly unfortunate because I have a Regency Wood Stove for sale, and people want pictures. I could ask Gibbles to take a few, but she is listening to her Japanese music, and cannot be disturbed.  I swear, it doesn't sound like Japanese anymore, but English.

On another note, please check your weekly flyers, on the back of the Mark's Work Warehouse flyer, the "package" is prominent.

20101018

I suppose, I thought I was restarting this darn blog, but, things have been nuts.  Nothing has even been remotely funny. . . .well, except my grandmother.

The poor thing is afflicted with sciatica.  Of course, she is the only one in the world who has it.  I asked, what was she put on, and she replied Nova Gesic Forte. . . . ."it's really making me dizzy and I keep falling asleep".

Uhhhh, that's just extra strength Tylenol.  She was reading the French side of either a prescription Rx or a generic bottle.  Refusing to listen to me, she rambled off side effects one would expect from sucking on a hookah.   "It's the Nova Gesic Forte, I just can't handle it".
